Meet the Counselor
My name is Melli Bennett and I have a wonderful, active group of 40 au pairs placed with fantastic host families in my cluster. I have been an Au Pair in America Community Counselor since 2005 and my service area includes: Chevy Chase, Kensington and Silver Spring, Montgomery County, Maryland.
I am originally from the Eastern European country of Estonia. After graduating from University of Tartu in 1999, where I majored in journalism and public relations, I worked until September 2004 for different newspapers and magazines in Estonia as a writer, assistant of editor, editor and Editor-In-Chief.
In addition, I spent one year of my life as an Au Pair in the United Sates. During that fulfilling year I benefited from the full range of experiences – both good and bad – that an Au Pair can expect to encounter. In fact, I got a bit more then I bargained for – during my year as an Au Pair I met my future husband Matthew and we have two wonderful daughters Sophia and Anna.
Coming from a small country I love to meet new cultures and to have a first hand experience with them. We have friends in most of the countries in Europe and during the holidays we have always hard time to figure out whom to visit this time:) In addition to traveling I like to spend my free time reading and making artwork as well as bicycling and hiking.
