This year’s game features the New England Patriots vs. New York Giants. The Super Bowl is the annual American Football championship and a popular time for friends to gather in front of the TV. Each year millions of people watch the game, the half-time show – or just the commercials! People will be talking about the commercials for days. To learn more about football visit the “Life in the US” section of this website http://aupairinamerica.com/resources/life_in_the_us/football.asp
The 46th Super Bowl will take place on February 5, 2012. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 ET on NBC.

A few brave au pairs showed up for the baseball game last night. We had rain off and on all day. So, we were really lucky that we had no rain at all last night for the game. It was not the most action packed baseball game, but they can all say they have been to an American baseball game. I have the pictures to prove it. The fireworks were a nice way to end the evening. Click on any of the photos to view them full size in our Cluster Photobucket album.

American Institute For Foreign Study has a great educational program called Global Awareness. Global Awareness is designed to promote multi-cultural understanding and appreciation in elementary and middle school classrooms. Au pairs volunteer in classrooms and other community settings, sharing their culture and language.
There was recently a Global Awareness competition where au pairs were encouraged to share ideas for games and activities from their homeland. Prizes were awarded for the best submissions.
We have a winner in our cluster…
Flor from Guatemala!

Anyone who know Flor will probably not be surprised to hear that she won. She is a wonderful cultural embassador and a lot of fun to be around. Congratulations, Flor!

We had fun at the Bowie Baysox baseball game on Sunday. For many of the au pairs, it was their first baseball game they have attended. A group of my au pairs charmed a kind usher into allowing them to move down from general admission to some really great seats.

If anyone got pictures of the post-game fireworks, please share them with me, so I can post them here. Thanks!
