Education Information
Au pairs must complete a minimum of:
- 72 hours of classroom time, or
- 6 academic credits, or
- 7.2 CEUs, or
- a combination of the above to meet the required total study requirement
Seventy two (72) classroom hours is considered equivalent to six (6) credits of coursework.
Some continuing education courses grant CEUs (continuing education units) rather than credits; while some may be non-credit. CEUs or credits earned will differ from one institution to the next. Generally, ten hours in the classroom have a value of one CEU.
The only online course eligible to meet the requirement is “APIA Advantage” offered through UCLA. This course is offered two-three times a year and will meet the full education requirement.

Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) is the most popular college the au pairs in Charlotte attend. They offer English As a Second Language (ESL) classes, TOEFL preparation and a lot of other fun classes.
Please visit their website at www.cpcc.edu or call them at 704-330-CPCC (2722).
UCLA Extension is another popular option for au pairs in Charlotte.
