Our local, professional counselors are one of the many things that set us apart. Senior Community Counselors Natasha, Jan and Patty affectionately refer to their area as ABC: Annapolis, Baltimore and Columbia, Maryland. Combined they have a collective 50 years of experience with Au Pair in America!
Natasha is the senior community counselor for the greater Annapolis area and has worked as a counselor with Au Pair in America since 2000. In college Natasha studied German in Austria at the University of Graz, an experience which served her well in connecting with au pairs from all over the world. Prior to becoming a counselor, Natasha was an attorney with the United States Air Force and was on active duty for nine years; she retired from the Air Force in July after 20 years of service! Having been a host family to an au pair herself, she has a real understanding of the program from a host family’s perspective. Of her experience working with Au Pair in America, she says:
It has been a joy to help facilitate a cultural exchange with these young women and American families as they introduce their children to other cultures and traditions. It is a delight to witness our children gain a better appreciation of our world. So often host families stay in touch with their former au pairs for years, long after the au pair has returned to her home country. This has been the most rewarding aspect for me to witness.
Jan Peedin has been a Community Counselor in Maryland since 1998 and has lived in Columbia since 1979. Her area of coverage consists of Howard County, Carroll County, Laurel, Burtonsville, Brookville, and part of Anne Arundel County. What does she love about the program?
I feel privileged to meet and work with so many young woman from around the world. I admire their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the program. They thrive and learn, and we learn from them.
Last but not least, Patty Antreasian is the Senior Community Counselor for the Baltimore area and communities north of Baltimore. She has worked with Au Pair in America since 1995 and continues to find it incredibly gratifying. With an educational background in Counseling Psychology and Coaching, working with au pairs and families is the perfect fit:
I enjoy helping people discover what their goals and dreams are. I am married and have two children who are now college-age. My home is filled with pets and art, and my au pairs often tell me how much they enjoy coming here for cluster meetings!
Natasha, Jan and Patty are part of a great team at Au Pair in America helping busy Maryland families solve their child care needs! For questions about the au pair program, schedule a consult with us at a time that’s convenient for you.
