It is our great pleasure to announce the 2018 Au Pairs of the Year!
Each year, we invite our host families from across the country to nominate their au pair for our Au Pair of the Year contest, and we are always so impressed and touched by the response. We love reading the amazing stories that families share about their bright, talented, and inspirational au pairs. Thank you to all of our host families for your submissions!
And the winners are:
First Place: Morgane Chabot, au pair from France
Second Place: Rocio Tito Uri, au pair from Bolivia
Second Place: Rozelle Botes, au pair from South Africa
Third Place: Ling Guo, au pair from China
We are honored to recognize these remarkable young women who have enriched the lives of their America host families through cultural exchange and excellent child care.
The Au Pair of the Year winner receives two round-trip tickets to reconnect with her host family in the future, and each of the runners up receives one round-trip ticket for a host family reunion down the road.
Here is an excerpt from the essay submitted by first place winner Morgane’s host family:
“Morgane has been an extraordinary addition to our family. Alex (8) and Theodore (6) adore Morgane. Dave and I love her too. Over the past 14 months, she has become family—big sister to our children and little sister to me. She has become indispensable in every aspect of family life: helping with the children’s education, dealing with extracurricular activity logistics, improving our routines and habits, and infusing creativity into our lives.
Both children attend French immersion school and participate in activities. Help with French math homework is unmatched by Morgane’s skills. She also ensures both children get high scores on their English spelling tests by fastidiously attending to their homework and testing schedules. It is an understatement that our children could not participate in their extracurricular activities without Morgane’s transportation assistance, her encouragement, and ensuring nothing important (like meals) suffers.
Our lives have improved and altogether changed for the better since Morgane joined our family. She brings energy, inspiration, organization, and creativity. She gives love and commitment to fulfilling her responsibilities — and exceeding all expectations — of fantastic caregiver, philanthropist, and student of American culture. Morgane is a standard bearer for au pairs, and we are tremendously fortunate to share this time with her!” Read more…
