Virginia participated in a tour of the Nation&#8217;s Capitol.\u00a0 The US Capitol  is the most widely recognized symbol of democratic government in the  world. It has housed Congress since 1800.\u00a0 The Capitol is where Congress  meets to write the laws of this nation, and where presidents are  inaugurated and deliver their State of the Union messages.\u00a0 For more  than two centuries, the Capitol has grown along with the nation, adding  new wings to accommodate the increasing number of senators and  representatives as new states entered the Union.\u00a0 Its ceilings are  decorated with historic images, and its halls are lined with statutes  and paintings representing great events and people from the nation&#8217;s  history.\u00a0 The Rotunda is the heart and center of the Capitol.\u00a0 Although  it serves no legislative function, it is a ceremonial space where state  funerals have been held since the time of Abraham Lincoln, for  presidents, members of Congress, military heroes, and eminent citizens.\u00a0  Visiting heads of state and special guests are often received in the  Rotunda, and many historic events have been celebrated there.\u00a0 It was a wonderful experience for our au pairs to learn the history of this beautiful building and gain a better appreciation of how our system of government works.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/i1102.photobucket.com\/albums\/g442\/natasha-wrobel\/DSC_0172.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"491\" height=\"330\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/i1102.photobucket.com\/albums\/g442\/natasha-wrobel\/DSC_0190.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"265\" height=\"178\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/i1102.photobucket.com\/albums\/g442\/natasha-wrobel\/DSC_0183.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"148\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/i1102.photobucket.com\/albums\/g442\/natasha-wrobel\/DSC_0189.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"265\" height=\"178\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/i1102.photobucket.com\/albums\/g442\/natasha-wrobel\/DSC_0191.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"235\" height=\"158\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i1102.photobucket.com\/albums\/g442\/natasha-wrobel\/DSC_0202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"294\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On April 14th, four clusters from Annapolis, Baltimore, Columbia and N. It has been a joy to help facilitate a cultural exchange with these young women and American families as they introduce their children to other cultures and traditions.
