Pay attention to it and modify your activities appropriately.<\/li>\n<li> Pay attention to your hydration status and be sure to drink plenty of fluids.<\/li>\n<li> Try to stay in relatively cool areas, even when outside. Many  public places, such as libraries, shopping malls and movie theatres, are  air conditioned.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid hot, enclosed places, such as cars. Never leave children unattended in a\u00a0car!<\/li>\n<li> Use a fan, if available.<\/li>\n<li> Stay on the lowest floor of your building.<\/li>\n<li>Eat well-balanced, light and regular meals.<\/li>\n<li>Wear loose-fitting, lightweight and light-colored clothing.<\/li>\n<li>Cover windows that receive a significant amount of sun with drapes or shades to help keep your house cool.<\/li>\n<li>Cool beverages are good for cooling down the body, while alcoholic  drinks can impair the body\u2019s ability to regulate its temperature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Signs of Heat Overexposure<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heavy sweating \u2014 though if heat stroke sets in, the body can no longer compensate and stops sweating.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/..\/lie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2011\/07\/KidsWater-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"boy drinking water\" width=\"192\" height=\"127\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Pale skin.<\/li>\n<li>Muscle cramps.<\/li>\n<li>Feeling tired and weak.<\/li>\n<li>Altered mental status (confusion or disorientation).<\/li>\n<li>Headache.<\/li>\n<li>Becoming semi-conscious or passing out.<\/li>\n<li>Nausea or vomiting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Steps to Take After Recognizing Heat-Induced Illness<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Call 911.<\/li>\n<li>Get the person out of the sun and into a cool area.
