I have lived in a few other states but always came back to the Bay Area because there is no place I have found to be so culturally diverse. People are not generic, where we come from geographically and the culture we were raised in plays only a part in the person we become. I have always challenged the cultural norms and looked for ways to identify with people from all walks of life. When I was a senior in high school I debated worldly issues with students from around the world in the Presidential Classroom Program. We did an exercise where everyone was sitting in a circle. We were prompted to close our eyes. We were told to stand up and remain standing if the answer to any of the following questions was a, \u201cyes.\u201d The questions were simple questions like, \u201cDo you enjoy writing?\u201d and, \u201cDo you have a dream for your future?\u201d  Naturally, we were all standing at the end. To look around and realize we were all human, no matter where we are from or how we were raised, we all have dreams. I hope to be a pillar of the Au Pair in America community and help other people see the value in developing a deeper understanding of cultural diversity, side by side with cultural similarities.\r\n \r\nWith that said, I am a mom, and I love being able to watch my children grow. Every stage has offered us more opportunity to find out what makes their heart sing and that, to me, is living. When we find something we are passionate about and we get that bug to learn more and strive for new heights, that gives me purpose. I am passionate about yoga and the practice of going within. Some people take life one day at a time, I choose to take life by one breath.
