Self Defense Cluster Meeting

karateOn Tuesday, May 25th at 6:30pm. many aupairs from 3 clusters had a self-defense class with a real Karate school. They learned how to protect themselves, avoid potentially dangerous situations, be street smart.

Flower Mart May 7-May 8, 2010

This year, Flower Mart honors Ukraine. Dr. Oleh Shamshur, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States has graciously agreed to be our Honorary Chairman. All Hallows Guild is actively working with the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington to showcase Ukraine through entertainment, sport, culture and food.

Flower Mart reaches a wide cross section of the Washington region. On a nice spring day, Flower Mart daily attendance is about 10,000 people. Television, newsprint, radio stations and national publications give Flower Mart excellent coverage and local TV celebrities and weathermen broadcast from the Mart. The NW Current publishes our Program as a special Flower Mart edition, available after April 20, for DC home delivery and at selected locations in Maryland and at the Herb Cottage, South Road of the Cathedral. A is for Art – try drawing, painting or gluing
B is for Baking – bake a dessert together for dinner
C is for Clay – Use non-hardening clay or play dough to shape and mold
D is for Dance – put on a lively tape
E is for Exercise – be sure to get some everyday
F is for Friends – invite some over
G is for Greenhouse – find a local greenhouse to visit to enjoy the sights and smells
H is for House – make a playhouse from a large appliance box
I is for Ice skating – take the children to a local rink
J is for Jigsaw puzzle – be sure to pick one that isn’t too difficult
K is for Kitchen science – try a safe experiment
L is for Library – borrow some new books
M is for Movie – make one with a video camera, or watch one
N is for Necklace – make one out of cereal or macaroni
O is for Origami – learn to make simple paper creations
P is for Puppets – socks make easy and fun puppets – put on a show!
Q is for Quiet Time – everyone needs some of this
R is for Reading aloud – choose a good book and a comfortable place to sit
S is for Seeds and Suet – put out food for the birds and watch them eat
T is for Tent – make one from old blankets and chairs
U is for Unplugged – do a day with no TV
V is for Variety – try something new everyday
W is for Walk – take one in any weather (be sure to dress appropriately)
X is for Xylophone – make your own with glasses, water and a metal spoon
Y is for Year – make a calendar or scrapbook to remember the year
Z is for Zoo – visit the animals

HOLIDAY PARTY 2009

IMG_0009IMG_0007IMG_0005IMG_0004IMG_0001More than 100 au pairs enjoyed a holiday party organized by three counselors. The au pairs brought wonderful food from all over the world, exchanged gifts and played a game which helped them to meet more new friends. It was really fun.

Potluck Dinner

Please prepare and bring a side dish or a desert what you normally eat during the holidays (for approx. 8 people).   Counselors will bring ham and soft drinks.

Gift Grab Bag

Please bring a nicely wrapped present for about $5 that another girl your age would enjoy.  We will put it in the gift grabd bag and you will pull out somebody else’s present.  Everyone will go home with a gift. 

This is the nicest aupair party of the year and is always 100% attended!
