But how is this done?\u00a0 Are my host parents involved?\u00a0 Where do I start?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Goal setting helps you and your host parents stay on the same page regarding the children&#8217;s growth. By using <strong>SMART goals<\/strong>\u2014<strong>S<\/strong>pecific, <strong>M<\/strong>easurable, <strong>A<\/strong>chievable, <strong>R<\/strong>elevant, and <strong>T<\/strong>ime-bound\u2014you can turn daily playtime into meaningful learning opportunities AND it offers you and your host parents another worthwhile way to connect.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>1. Cognitive &amp; Language Goals<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Instead of just &#8220;playing,&#8221; focus on specific milestones that help the child\u2019s brain develop.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Specific:<\/strong> Help the child recognize and name five colors during morning play.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Measurable:<\/strong> Identify at least three different shapes in a picture book twice a week.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Achievable:<\/strong> Practice the &#8220;ABC Song&#8221; together during bath time or car rides.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Relevant:<\/strong> Introduce three new vocabulary words related to the week&#8217;s theme (e.g., &#8220;garden,&#8221; &#8220;seed,&#8221; &#8220;flower&#8221;).<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Time-bound:<\/strong> Aim for the child to master 10 new words by the end of the month.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>2.
