Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, it is still officially called \u201cWashington\u2019s Birthday\u201d by the federal government. Traditionally celebrated on February 22 ~ Washington\u2019s actual day of birth ~ the holiday became popularly known as Presidents\u2019 Day after it was moved as part of 1971\u2019s<span class=\"text_exposed_show\"> Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for American workers. While several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other figures, Presidents\u2019 Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents past and present.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Things to do with children:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The United States has had more than 40 presidents.
