Over a dozen au pairs with Au Pair in America who are living and working in New Canaan helped the Young Women’s League fill 10,000 Easter eggs with candy in advance of the town-wide hunt this past Saturday.
“This is the third year that the girls have volunteered, and the second year that Au Pair in America has been a sponsor of the event,” stated Marianne Grandin, the Au Pair in America Community Counselor who has lived in New Canaan for 20 years. “They love giving back to the community that has welcomed them so warmly.”
The girls are from all over the world, and commit to their host families for a minimum of one year. The U.S. Department of State’s au pair program allows 18 to 26-year-old international visitors who travel to the U.S. on a J-1 Visitor Exchange Visa to acquire a better understanding and appreciation of American life while living with an American family and caring for their children.
The U.S.’s first legal au pair agency, Au Pair in America matches international participants with U.S. host families for a mutually rewarding, culturally enriching experience. Celebrating its 30th year, Au Pair in America has placed more than 100,000 au pairs with American host families in 43 states.
