It is valid anywhere in the world except your home country. It is a type of travel insurance, which covers all types of injuries and illnesses, but does not cover preventative care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Your Insurance Website &amp; App\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Use the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.culturalinsurance.com\/mycisiapp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">myCISI app<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mycisi.com\/CISIPortalWeb\/pub\/login.aspx?PT=GEN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">myCISI desktop log-in<\/a>\u00a0to obtain information about your insurance coverage, account and reprint your insurance card.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Search for doctors and facilities who accept your insurance\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aetna.com\/dsepublic\/#\/contentPage?page=providerSearchLanding&amp;site_id=passport\">here<\/a>. Choose \u201cPassport to Healthcare Primary PPO Network\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Your Insurance Card<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 You should carry your personal health insurance card with you at all times. The card is attached to an email from \u2018My CISI\u2019 which you received at orientation. Search your email for \u201cenrollments@mycisi.com\u201d. \u00a0<strong>If you cannot find the email or you lose your insurance card, you can:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mycisi.com\/CISIPortalWeb\/pub\/login.aspx?PT=GEN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">myCISI desktop log-in<\/a>\u00a0and print a new card.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact the insurance company by calling 203-399-5130 or emailing\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:Claimhelp@culturalinsurance.com\">Claimhelp@culturalinsurance.com<\/a><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>Please include your au pair ID number in the email along with your host family\u2019s name and address. (If you call\u00a0you may wait a while on hold with no music or sound, this is normal.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Finding a Doctor, Clinic, or Hospital&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The best place to start for any illness or injury is an Urgent Care clinic.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They are typically open daily from 8 am until 10 pm.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For most urgent care clinics an appointment is not required.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can just walk in, but for ones who offer appointment booking online or by phone, that can reduce your wait time once you arrive.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search for urgent care clinics who accept your insurance\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aetna.com\/dsepublic\/#\/contentPage?page=providerSearchLanding&amp;site_id=passport\">here<\/a>. (For example, anything serious enough that you consider calling 911 for an ambulance or asking someone to take you to get care immediately.) For anything less than a true emergency, it is best to be seen by a doctor at an Urgent Care Clinic. If Urgent Care directs you to the Emergency Room, then it should be covered as an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you go to the Emergency Room at the hospital for anything less than a true emergency, you will be charged an extra $500 non-emergency deductible by the insurance company<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>If you truly think you are having a life-threatening emergency, then go directly to the nearest hospital. Any hospital in our local area should take your insurance.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Medical Specialists<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need to see a specialist please search this database for a doctor who takes your insurance:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aetna.com\/dsepublic\/#\/contentPage?page=providerSearchLanding&amp;site_id=passport\">click here.<\/a>&nbsp;After you enter your zip code, you will be asked to Select a Plan, choose \u201cPassport to Healthcare Primary PPO Network\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tell the doctor\/care provider that you have&nbsp;<strong>Aetna&nbsp;Health Insurance&nbsp;<\/strong>when you call to make your appointment or check in at the office. Always confirm that they still take your insurance. Immediately call or email the insurance company if a listed provider states that they do not take your insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Counseling&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Counseling services are covered with a limit of $500. If you have the basic plan, you would need to pay your $50 deductible, then a 20% co-pay and the insurance pays 80% (up to a maximum of $500).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To find a counselor who accepts your insurance, search&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aetna.com\/dsepublic\/?fbclid=IwAR05hmgzq37r82R2-uEUeybyZ-MeEGj5AOGYmHHPFgmInhprdCHCgm6NtFY#\/contentPage?page=providerSearchLanding&amp;site_id=passport\">this database<\/a>: After you enter your zip code, you will be asked to Select a Plan, choose \u201cPassport to Healthcare Primary PPO Network\u201d. Under \u201cFind what you need by category\u201d, select \u201cBehavioral Health\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tell the doctor\/care provider that you have&nbsp;<strong>Aetna&nbsp;Health Insurance&nbsp;<\/strong>when you call to make your appointment or check in at the office. Always confirm that they still take your insurance. Immediately call or email the insurance company if a listed provider states that they do not take your insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prescription Medicine<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need to pay upfront at the pharmacy. Before you go the get your prescription filled, I strongly recommend you compare the prices of your medication using&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodrx.com\">GoodRX<\/a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellrx.com\/prescriptions\/\">WellRX<\/a>. Both of these websites will compare prices of local pharmacies and you will need to give the code or prescription card from the website to receive the discounted price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will need to pay the full cost for the prescription medication at the pharmacy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then, you send the insurance company:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A completed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.culturalinsurance.com\/students\/claim-information.asp\">claim form<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your pharmacy receipt (the one usually stapled to the bag with your name, name of medicine, and cost)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Note: The cash register receipt on its own WILL NOT be enough, you must have the detailed receipt described above.) They will reimburse you for their share of the prescription cost,\u00a0(80% or 100% depending on your insurance plan). It will come in the mail in about 4 weeks as a check payable to you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make copies (or take photos with your phone) of the receipt and your claim form before sending. Keep those for your records until you receive payment for your claim.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You may monitor the status of your claim on the CISI website or app.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>COVID-19 Testing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your medical insurance covers COVID-19 testing if there is a medical reason (known exposure or symptoms), but it is subject to your deductible and co-pay, so it is not free.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At home COVID-19 tests maybe purchased at local drug stores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free at home test kits are sometimes available through local health departments or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.covid.gov\/tests\">HERE<\/a>\u00a0by mail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>COVID-19 Vaccine<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You have a type of travel insurance, which does not include preventive care like vaccines. The CDC Bridge Access Program has ended. There will be new programs offering free COVID booster vaccines through the local health departments. When that information is published, we will add it here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Services That are Not Covered&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>High-Risk Sports<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Your insurance will not cover ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, or other \u201chigh-risk sports\u201d unless you add sports insurance. (Snow tubing does not require sports insurance.)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can add sports insurance at any time during your year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sports Insurance costs $115 for 12 months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It takes 48 hours to take effect and will cover you for 12 months from your date of enrollment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To enroll in sports insurance, use the link found in the email sent to you with the subject \u201cAu Pair in America Sports Insurance Upgrade Option\u201d. Ask your community counselor if you are having trouble finding the email with the sports insurance enrollment link.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Preventive Care<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Your health insurance does NOT cover preventive care, like the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dental Care* (CISI medical upgrade plan includes some emergency dental coverage. Basic plan does not include dental.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Physicals\/Check-ups<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preventive Gynecology Care\/Birth Control*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vision Care (glasses and contacts)*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vaccines <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>*See below for information on low-cost options for some of these services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Women\u2019s Health Issues&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your medical insurance DOES cover medical problems (testing for a suspected STD, infections, and other gynecological conditions) as long as they are not pre-existing conditions. For gynecology problems, you will give them your insurance card and it will be handled like any other injury or illness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your insurance DOES NOT cover preventive care (annual gynecology exam, preventive screening tests, or birth control). For preventive care, you should tell them you do NOT have insurance coverage for that and you are requesting the sliding scale or low-cost services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These are three women\u2019s health clinics offering low-cost health services:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>**For birth control and other preventive care (annual exam, pap smear, breast exam, birth control of any kind), you will need to pay for the care you receive at Planned Parenthood, but you can ask for the \u201cSliding Scale\u201d which charges you a cheaper price based on your income level. You should bring your participation letter that includes stipend information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please visit the individual links above to make an appointment for one of these locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dental Care&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Au pairs with medical upgrade insurance have $500 emergency dental coverage. This would include services like filling a cavity or repairing a chipped tooth, as long as the tooth was in good health at the time of her arrival to the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For preventive dental care (cleaning) and\/or au pairs with basic insurance needing any dental care, these are some affordable options. The following clinics offer a variety of dental care including preventive care and treatment for issues. Services vary from clinic to clinic. Discounts are available based on your income. Print your participation letter in your au pair portal for proof of income to show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Vision Care&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These are some companies known for providing eye exams and glasses or contacts for a reasonable price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.americasbest.com\">America\u2019s Best Contacts &amp; Eye Glasses<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lenscrafters.com\">Lenscrafters<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.targetoptical.com\">Target Optical\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.walmart.com\/cp\/vision-centers\/1078944\">Walmart Vision Center<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zennioptical.com\">Zenni Optical<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Affordable eyeglasses you can order online with your prescription from an eye exam.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Other Important Information<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do not panic if you receive a crazy high bill.\u00a0 It often takes a month for the doctor to correctly bill the health insurance.\u00a0 If you do receive a crazy bill, please contact CISI support at (800) 303-8120, prompt 5 or 203-399-5130.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take care of yourself.\u00a0 Don\u2019t delay going to the doctor if you are sick.\u00a0 I know this is intimidating, but you can figure it out.
