On Sunday, December 8th the Suffolk Cluster of Au Pair in America gathered to decorate a holiday tree for Stony Brook Village’s Promenade of Trees. Host families, au pairs and Community Counselor, Cindy Garruba decorated a beautiful tree with handmade ornaments. Over several years au pairs have made these ornaments at one of the cluster meetings at Cindy’s house. This year the au pairs painted peace signs celebrating their home countries. It is a truly International Holiday Tree!
There was a petting zoo, puppet show, carol singers and lots of fun while the crowd waited for Santa Claus to arrive.
Santa arrived in a horse drawn carriage! Then the kids lined up and waited to tell Santa their holiday wishes.

The theme of the tree is “We Bring the World Together!” The decorations have been made by au pairs from this year’s au pairs, as well as au pairs from previous years. ![386470_244272698972397_100001690058084_713697_1246130526_n[1]](https://blogs.aupairinamerica.com/lie/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2011/12/386470_244272698972397_100001690058084_713697_1246130526_n1.jpg)
Santa Claus arrived at 2 PM on a fire engine. Children lined up for a chance to tell him what they want this year for Christmas. Santa will be available every weekend till Christmas for the children. There is a red mailbox outside the Stony Brook Post Office just for letters to Santa. The trees are on display until January 1st. The APIA tree is right in front of the Brook House Restaurant, just to the right of the Post Office. Hope you visit Stony Brook and visit our tree!!
Suffolk County Au Pair in America Au Pairs decorated a holiday tree in Stony Brook Village Promenade of Trees. The theme of the tree is “we bring the world together!” All the trees are on display through the New Year’s weekend. The au pairs enjoyed decorating the tree and walking through the village to view the other trees on display. We even saw Santa arrive in his sleigh! We hope all our host families and friends visit Stony Brook Village for the holiday season, see Santa and our tree!
