\"WIN_20140829_192510\"<\/a>Cindy Garruba Senior Community Counselor\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Cindy Garruba grew up in Setauket and has spent the majority of her life in Suffolk County.\u00a0 She lives in a home in Northville on the North Fork of Long Island that was her family’s beach house for over 60 years.\u00a0\u00a0 She had the home remodeled and now lives there full time.\u00a0 She raised her daughter as a single mom having been widowed when her daughter was five years old, Cindy knows the challenges and joys of\u00a0raising children.\u00a0 She\u00a0served as PTA president, Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher when her daughter was young and continues to volunteer in her community.\u00a0\u00a0She graduated from Dowling College on Long Island.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Cindy loves spending time on the local beaches, shopping at Tanger Mall,\u00a0movies, time with friends and family,\u00a0and the occasional trip into NYC.\u00a0\u00a0 Decorating is a passion of Cindy’s and she is a certified\u00a0graduate of the Metropolitan Institute of Design and a certified home stager from Staging Training By Design.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A Senior Community Counselor for Au Pair in America<\/strong>, Cindy has served Suffolk County Host Families and Au Pairs since September 2000.\u00a0 She admires the young women who travel far from home and care lovingly for American children.\u00a0 Cindy feels her host families are warm and welcoming and embrace the cultural exchange part of the program along with the childcare they receive from their au pairs.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"AP'sEvery month the au pairs have a cluster activity arranged by Cindy.\u00a0 Once a quarter they have a meeting about childcare, safety and valuable tips on life in the USA.\u00a0 These also include social time where au pairs can visit with one another in Cindy’s home.\u00a0 Conversation is lively and the au pairs form long lasting friendships.\u00a0 Cindy stays in contact with many of her au pairs and has seen them go on to have succesful careers, marriages and children.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Cindy says “Many of the host families and au pairs continue their relationships long past their year together and continue to feel like family.\u00a0 Children benefit from growing up in homes where they learn about cultural diversity\u00a0from someone they love.\u00a0 The experience is rewarding to the host parents, the children and the au pair.\u00a0\u00a0 I truly believe\u00a0world peace can be achieved by learning as much as we can\u00a0about people\u00a0from all corners of the globe.\u00a0 Individual to\u00a0individual we learn we are all\u00a0need and want the same things, we all want the best life for ourselves and our families.\u00a0” <\/span><\/p>\n
