to say &#8220;Qual e&#8217; sue nome?&#8221;\u00a0 Portugese for &#8216;What is your name?&#8221;\u00a0 They learned to answer &#8220;Meu nome e&#8217; _______&#8221; or &#8220;My name is _______&#8221;,\u00a0they each had a chance to answer.<\/p>\n<p>Bruna explained that seasons are opposite in Brazil and the\u00a0students were surprised that the kids in Brazil go to school from part of the lesson was about Folklore.\u00a0 Bruna explained that in Brazil folk stories are very important and are explanations of how things came to be, many\u00a0are about the beautiful fauna and flora of Brazil.\u00a0 The children were enthralled in Bruna&#8217;s lively storytelling of &#8220;The Legend of Iguazu Falls!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-470\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/lie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2011\/03\/020-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"020\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/lie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2011\/03\/020-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/lie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2011\/03\/020-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her lesson was a required Global Awareness\u00a0component of her UCLA college class, an online course exclusively offered to Au Pair in America au pairs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Each au pair must enroll \u00a0in and attend courses at a post-secondary institution during the exchange program,\u00a0 Host families on the Au Pair and Extraordinaire programs pay tuition and fees (books, etc.) up to $500\u00a0 Host families establish agreeable time frames to attend classes, assist with course registration and provide transportation to and from classes.\u00a0 Au pairs must complete no less than six hours of academic credit or its equivalent during the first 12-month exchange.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-471\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/lie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2011\/03\/023-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"023\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/lie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2011\/03\/023-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/lie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2011\/03\/023-1024x767.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/lie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2011\/03\/023-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Each student wrote a sentence about what they learned about Brazil.\u00a0 They then drew a picture about what they learned.\u00a0 Several drew the Brazilian flag.\u00a0 They learned that the green on the flag represents the forest, the yellow is for the gold that was discovered in Brazil, the blue for the sky, the white stars represent the 27 states in Brazil.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Bruna and the students attached their work to a poster board and they kept it for the classroom.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>What is Global Awareness? <\/strong><\/span><a
