{"id":130,"date":"2009-04-04T15:52:52","date_gmt":"2009-04-04T22:52:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aupairinamerica.wordpress.com\/?p=130"},"modified":"2009-04-04T15:52:52","modified_gmt":"2009-04-04T22:52:52","slug":"what-we-will-and-will-not-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdf\/2009\/04\/04\/what-we-will-and-will-not-do\/","title":{"rendered":"What We Will and Will Not Do"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, Terry and I have discussed a trend we have seen in recent months.\u00a0\u00a0 We have been surprised and saddened by the lengths that some of our competitors will go to in order to get more business. \u00a0  In an industry built on the concept of providing cultural exchange and childcare, we still hold those as high priorities.\u00a0\u00a0  Some of our competitors seem to have a different focus.\u00a0\u00a0   We personally prefer to deal with ethical people who have moral standards, especially on something as important as the safety and care of our children. \u00a0  We may be na\u00efve in believing that those things matter to people, but we think they should. \u00a0  So, we decided to post a list of the things we will and will not do.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s our list:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> <strong>We will<\/strong> continue to keep taking care of our host families and au pairs as our main priority and marketing to new families as a secondary focus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We will<\/strong> promote Au Pair in America using honest, ethical methods.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We will<\/strong> encourage our host families and au pairs to refer people to Au Pair in America, based on their own positive experiences.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We will <\/strong>continue to allow our au pairs to bring their friends from other agencies to our meetings and will welcome them and treat them just as our own au pairs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>We will<\/strong> <strong>not <\/strong>lie to people.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We will not<\/strong> misrepresent ourselves or our intentions in order to obtain competitor\u2019s host family information.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We will not<\/strong> pose as reporters in order to obtain access to a competitor\u2019s host families and market to them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We will not<\/strong> ask our au pairs\u2019 friends to give us their host family\u2019s contact information or their agency\u2019s cluster list.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We will not<\/strong> make misleading statements about our competitors.<\/li>\n<li> <strong>We will not<\/strong> violate the terms of online forums and pose as satisfied customers, rather than agency representatives.<\/li>\n<li> <strong>We will not<\/strong> violate the terms of websites such as Craig\u2019s List by posting ridiculous numbers of listings and cross-posting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We will not<\/strong> take another agency\u2019s original ideas, copy them and promote them as our own.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We spend the majority of our work time providing great service and support to our host families and au pairs and genuinely care about them having a positive outcome in the au pair program.\u00a0 We are saddened that people would try to lure them away, with the promise of discounts and services, which may or may not be accurate.<\/p>\n<p>When one of these competitors was confronted by a third party whom she had lied to and used to get the private information of host families and au pairs,\u00a0 her reply was, &#8220;that&#8217;s just business.&#8221;\u00a0 Well, that&#8217;s not how we do business.\u00a0 At the end of the day, we want to feel good about the work we do and know that we haven&#8217;t done anything that we should feel ashamed of.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, Terry and I have discussed a trend we have seen in recent months.\u00a0\u00a0 We have been surprised and saddened by the lengths that some of our competitors will go to in order to get more business. \u00a0 In an industry built on the concept of providing cultural exchange and childcare, we still hold those  <a class=\"read-more\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdf\/2009\/04\/04\/what-we-will-and-will-not-do\/\">Read More<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[78,1039,83,1040,333,468,668,967],"class_list":["post-130","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog","tag-au-pair-in-america","tag-au-pair-tips","tag-aupair","tag-child-care","tag-ethics","tag-host-family","tag-parent","tag-working"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
