This year those tips are very different. While we still want to be sure kids are visible to cars and safely supervised, there are new health and safety considerations due to COVID.<\/p>\n<p>Not all families will feel comfortable going trick or treating and that is completely understandable. For those who do, here are some tips from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/daily-life-coping\/holidays\/halloween.html\">the CDC<\/a>:<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 1.285714286rem;\">Steps to Take when Trick or Treating<\/span><\/h2>\n<div class=\"row \">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<p>Traditional Halloween activities are fun, but some can increase the risk of getting or spreading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\">COVID-19<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/flu\/Index.htm\">influenza<\/a>. Plan alternate ways to participate in Halloween.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row \">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<div class=\"card border-0 mb-3\">\n<div class=\"card-body \">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid alignright\" title=\"Halloween_children_trick_or_treating_holding_bag\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/images\/daily-life-coping\/holidays\/halloween\/Halloween_children_trick_or_treating_holding_bag.png\" alt=\"illustration of a child wearing a pumpkin costume holding a Halloween treat bag wearing face masks appropriately and \" width=\"172\" height=\"172\" \/>Make trick-or-treating safer<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoid direct contact with trick-or-treaters.<\/li>\n<li>Give out treats outdoors, if possible.<\/li>\n<li>Set up a station with individually bagged treats for kids to take.<\/li>\n<li>Wash hands before handling treats.<\/li>\n<li>Wear a mask.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 1.142857143rem;\">Wear a mask<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row \">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<div class=\"card border-0 mb-3\">\n<div class=\"card-body \">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<ul>\n<li>Make your cloth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html\">mask<\/a> part of your costume.<\/li>\n<li>A costume mask is <strong>not<\/strong> a substitute for a cloth mask.<\/li>\n<li>Do <strong>NOT<\/strong> wear a costume mask over a cloth mask.
