APIA recommends that au pairs and host families discuss the risks and decide whether they are comfortable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Please review the appropriate checklist(s) from APIA<\/strong>, as you make your travel plans.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aupairinamerica.com\/pdf\/year-1-international-travel-checklist.pdf\">Year 1 International Travel Checklist<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aupairinamerica.com\/pdf\/year-2-international-travel-checklist.pdf\">Year 2 International Travel Checklist\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aupairinamerica.com\/pdf\/automatic-revalidation-checklist.pdf\">Automatic Revalidation Checklist<\/a> (for Year 2 au pairs)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>All Au Pairs<\/strong> must mail their original DS-2019 along with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aupairinamerica.com\/pdf\/travel-validation-request-form.pdf\">Travel Validation Request Form<\/a>\u00a0to APIA, at least 3-4 weeks prior to international travel. Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdf\/2022\/02\/01\/how-to-address-an-envelope-in-the-usa-2\/\">this blog post<\/a> with step-by-step instructions.\u00a0<em>Note:<\/em>\u00a0<em>The travel validation ensures that you are in good standing with the program, it is not formal permission to travel. <\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Year 1 Au Pairs<\/strong> must have a valid visa to travel internationally and plan to return to the U.S. prior to the date their visa says it expires. This can be different from the actual program end date.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Year 2 Au Pairs<\/strong> may visit Canada, Mexico, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.gov\/sevis\/travel#which-islands-are-defined-as-adjacent-islands--2\">adjacent islands<\/a> due to the <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/us-visas\/visa-information-resources\/visa-expiration-date\/auto-revalidate.html\">Automatic Revalidation Policy<\/a>. No other international travel is allowed in Year 2.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Year 3 Au Pairs<\/strong>\u00a0(special extension) are not permitted to travel internationally.<\/li>\n<li><strong>All Au Pairs<\/strong>\u00a0must independently research whether they will need an additional visitor\u2019s visa for their destination. This will depend on their nationality and travel destination.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Only fully vaccinated travelers<\/strong> will be admitted into the U.S. This means that all foreign visitors must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and must show proof of vaccination before boarding a U.S.-bound airline.<\/li>\n<li><strong>All Au Pairs<\/strong> will need to get a <b>COVID-19 viral test<\/b> (regardless of vaccination status or citizenship) no more than 1 day before they travel by air into the United States.
