\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Melktert(or Milk Tart) is a Afrikaner dessert consisting of a sweet pastry crust containing a custard filling made from milk, flour, sugar and eggs. The ratio of milk to eggs is higher than in a traditional Portuguese custard tart or Chinese egg tart, resulting in a lighter texture and a stronger milk flavor.<\/p>\n

Crust <\/strong><\/p>\n

1 Egg<\/p>\n

1\/2 cup sugar<\/p>\n

2 cups flour<\/p>\n

1\/2 teaspoon salt<\/p>\n

1\/4 pound butter<\/p>\n

1 teaspoon of baking powder<\/p>\n

5 drops of vanilla<\/p>\n

Beat egg and sugar until the sugar is not visible.<\/p>\n

Sift flour, salt and baking powder in a separate bowl.<\/p>\n

Add butter and lastly the vanilla.<\/p>\n

Mix everything together<\/p>\n

Press it into a tart pan<\/p>\n

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 min.<\/p>\n

Rest of dough can be frozen for later.<\/p>\n

Filling<\/strong><\/p>\n

2 tablespoons butter and 2 cups milk<\/p>\n

Boil it with a pinch of salt.<\/p>\n

In separate bowl, mix<\/p>\n

2 tablespoons Corn Starch<\/p>\n

4 tablespoons of sugar<\/p>\n

1 beaten egg<\/p>\n

Add it to the milk mixture<\/p>\n

Cook it (for a little while) until a little stiff and toss in the crust.<\/p>\n
