{"id":1663,"date":"2011-12-29T14:36:51","date_gmt":"2011-12-29T18:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/ri\/?p=1663"},"modified":"2011-12-29T14:36:51","modified_gmt":"2011-12-29T18:36:51","slug":"ri-drivers-license-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/ri\/2011\/12\/29\/ri-drivers-license-information\/","title":{"rendered":"RI Driver&#039;s License Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RI law allows au pairs to drive in the State of Rhode Island for one year with either an international driver\u2019s license or a license from your home country (along with a translation of the license).<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to apply for a Rhode Island driver\u2019s license, you must take all of the following documents to the DMV:<\/p>\n<p>1)\tPassport<br \/>\n2)\tI-94 Card<br \/>\n3)\tDS-2019<br \/>\n4)\tValid Social Security Card<br \/>\n5)\tWritten confirmation of your participation in the Au Pair in America Program and documentation of your Rhode Island address. (You may use your Au Pair in America identification card)<\/p>\n<p>You will be required to take a written exam and an eye test; and will then be issued a RI Driver\u2019s \u201cpermit\u201d.  You should study the RI Driver\u2019s manual before taking the test. The manual can be accessed on the internet at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dmv.ri.gov\/licenses\/manuals\/index.php\">http:\/\/www.dmv.ri.gov\/licenses\/manuals\/index.php<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After receiving your permit, you will be given a date to take a <em>road test <\/em>(driving test), and after passing thst test, you will receive your Rhode Island Driver\u2019s License.<\/p>\n<p>For current information about DMV hours and fees involved to obtain a driver\u2019s permit and RI license, please visit the DMV website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dmv.ri.gov\/licenses\/\">http:\/\/www.dmv.ri.gov\/licenses\/<\/a><br \/>\n(Current fee for written test\/permit $6.50; License Fee $26.50; Total Fees: $33.00)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RI law allows au pairs to drive in the State of Rhode Island for one year with either an international driver\u2019s license or a license from your home country (along with a translation of the license).
