Growing up in Latin America has instilled a wonderful sense of “wanderlust” in me! I was born in Santiago, Chile. I also lived in Lima, Peru and Sao Paolo, Brazil. My family moved to the United States when I was 11 years old. Spanish was my first language, Portuguese my second, and English my third. My upbringing abroad gave me a worldly view as well as a great craving to visit and learn more about other cultures around the world.
In college, I spent a semester abroad, attending la Universidad de Sevilla in Spain. I was one of three other foreigners, living in the Spanish dorms while attending school. This experience gave me the unique perspective of being integrated into another culture that was not my own. After college, I moved to California.
In 2000, I took a break from corporate life to travel the world for a year. I began my journey in the USA, spending 3 months in Alaska. I then went onto explore Asia, Africa, Europe, Central America and South America. This invaluable experience taught me so much about other cultures. Domestic and international travel will always be a very important part of my life!
Aside from traveling, I love to practice yoga, backpack, hike, camp, swim, sail, and bike ride on a regular basis. I absolutely love the outdoors, and spend as much of my free time outside as possible.
I graduated with a B.A. double major (Spanish/Political Science) and a minor in Communications from University of Arizona in Tucson. I joined Au Pair In America as their Community Counselor for San Francisco, CA in January 2016. My international upbringing and extensive travel experience helps me to better understand an Au Pair’s perspective in their journey with Au Pair In America!
