{"id":1430,"date":"2015-05-11T13:29:02","date_gmt":"2015-05-11T13:29:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/vac\/2014\/05\/21\/safety-tips-for-au-pairs\/"},"modified":"2015-05-11T17:23:00","modified_gmt":"2015-05-11T17:23:00","slug":"safety-tips-for-au-pairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/vac\/2015\/05\/11\/safety-tips-for-au-pairs\/","title":{"rendered":"SAFETY TIPS FOR AU PAIRS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A few tips to review with your host families to ensure your safety and others too!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Driving<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1086\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/vac\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2014\/05\/c451134_l2-300x232.jpg\" alt=\"c451134_l2-300x232\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Make sure you have a clear understanding of the car use rules with your host family, if not talk to them about it or call me<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ask permission if you need the car to go somewhere other than where you would normally go<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not take the car to areas that may not be considered safe, especially in and around cities, ask your host family if you are not sure<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Be careful at night, park in well lit safe places, avoid empty looking car parks and indoor garages<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not use your phone or any electronic devices while driving<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Let your host family and I know immediately if you get into an accident so they can help you<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Alcohol Laws in the United States<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1087\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/vac\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2014\/05\/F7471.png\" alt=\"F7471\" width=\"200\" height=\"143\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>It is illegal for anyone under 21 to drink alcohol in the United States.\u00a0 If you are over 21 please be mindful if you are with other au pairs who are under 21 and the risk they take if they break the law. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Using a fake id\u2019s is illegal.\u00a0 You can be arrested for using a fake ID.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Drinking and driving is illegal and is extremely dangerous. It puts lives at risk.\u00a0 You should never drink and drive.\u00a0 If you are arrested for drinking and driving there are very serious consequences in this country including jail time.\u00a0\u00a0 Also, be a good friend and don\u2019t let your friends drink and driver.\u00a0\u00a0 Make safe choices and don\u2019t take unnecessary risks. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not risk your year and participation on the program by drinking underage, it is not worth it! <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Home Alone <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1088\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/vac\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2014\/05\/2.jpg\" alt=\"-2\" width=\"130\" height=\"88\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>If your host parents are going away overnight and leaving you at home,\u00a0 talk about the house rules ahead of time and respect them<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Talk to your host parents about having friends over when they are away including friends staying overnight and male guests too<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>If you are under 21 years old do not offer alcohol and\/or drink alcohol in your host parents home or offer alcohol to other au pairs in their home<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>If you are over 21 talk to your host family about their house rules regarding alcohol use.\u00a0 Do not offer alcohol or buy alcohol for anyone who is under 21.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; A few tips to review with your host families to ensure your safety and others too!
