It is considered a mega-success, however, when an additional 1000 guests (host parents and children, general public and VIP\u2019s) attend and walk away having really enjoyed themselves amongst the energy that brings people together through the Au Pair in America program.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, May 1st, Au Pairs from 36 countries, enthusiastically welcomed all those who stopped at their tables. The energy was palpable for all 3-hours of the DC Metro Area Cultural Fair 2016 at Nationals Park.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the afternoon we were treated to wonderful performances too:<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2016\/04\/southe-Africa-.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-841\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2016\/04\/peru.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-839\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-839 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2016\/04\/peru-300x231.jpg\" alt=\"peru\" width=\"300\" height=\"231\" \/><\/a>costumes to \u201cFawn Thai\u201d a traditional Thai folk dance<\/p>\n<p>Singer Marion Raffin of France performed a solo of the classic \u201cLa Vie En Rose\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Lillian Tshabalala of South Africa sang several solos including: \u201cQongqothwane \u2013 Beetle\u201d, \u201cMama Thembu \u2013 a Wedding Song\u201d, and \u201cMalaika \u2013 My Angel\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Zane Feldmane from Latvia presented \u201cBedu Manu Lielu Bedu or Trouble My Gre<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2016\/04\/facepainting.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-837\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-837 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2016\/04\/facepainting-288x300.jpg\" alt=\"facepainting\" width=\"269\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a>at Trouble\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Two singers from Poland gave us \u201cNie Mam Nic \u2013 I Have Nothing\u201d and \u201cCzas Nas Uczy Pogody \u2013 Time Teaches Us Serenity\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Colombia rounded-off the performances with \u201cChecumbia\u201d a traditional Colombian folk dance and several songs.<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2016\/05\/perf-3.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-846\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Children visiting eachreceived a passport an<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2016\/04\/lqtvia.jpg\" rel=\"attachment alt=\"lqtvia\" width=\"198\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a>d it was quickly filled with country, flag stickers as they \u201ctraveled the world\u201d.\u00a0 Some kids colored place mats to take home and others, still, wore home some fun face painting designs and globe tattoos.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2016\/04\/poland.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-840\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-840\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.aupairinamerica.com\/mdp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2016\/04\/poland-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"poland\" width=\"331\" height=\"248\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Over 30 DC Metro area Community Counselors (from Richmond to Baltimore, Cabin John to Virginia Beach) worked from March to May to organize all the pieces that went into the Fair.
