What a great evening we had watching a Detroit Tigers Baseball Game at Comerica Park!

IMG_0641 (400x300)Our All-American sport, baseball, was enjoyed by our group of over 100.   This photo (part of our group) was taken during the seventh-inning stretch, after we all sang the famous baseball song “Take me out to the Ball Park.  (There is a tradition that takes place between the halves of the 7th inning – we call it the seventh-inning stretch.  At that time, the fans stand and stretch their arms and legs and sometimes walk around)

Here are the words to the song:

Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don’t care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don’t win, it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game.

Traveling with your au pair

Travel- Scheduling

If your au pair travels with your family as part of her child care responsibilities, it is strongly recommended that a schedule be discussed in advance. Think about how you will divide child care responsibilities between you and the au pair. Remember that the au pair may need orienting to a new setting and that you are responsible for her lodging and meals while she is traveling with you, along with paying the weekly stipend.

National Tooth Fairy Day – Aug. 22

When a child loses a tooth the Tooth Fairy comes during the night to take the tooth and leave a surprise. The surprise varies by family, but is often money. What is the tradition in your country when a child loses a tooth? Losing teeth can be exciting or upsetting. These books may help the children understand the experience: Little Rabbit’s Loose Tooth by Lucy Bate, Andrew’s Loose Tooth by Robert N. Munsch
