St Patrick’s Day

Shamrock-clover-TibbygirlMarch 17 – St. Patrick’s Day –    In New York City, the St Patricks Parade starts at 44th Street at 11 am and is held every March 17th, except when March 17th falls on a Sunday, it is celebrated the day before, Saturday the 16th because of religious observances.
The parade marches up Fifth Avenue past St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 50th Street all the way up past the American Irish Historical Society at 83rd and the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 83rd Street to 86th Street, where the parade finishes around 4:30 – 5:00 pm

 

Qi Gong in Westport

Au Pairs from Westport, Weston and Wilton toured the Westport Historical Society’s at 25 Avery Place and viewed their latest photographic exhibit of historic Westport homes .  Afterward, Director Sue Gold conducted a Qi Gong class, just for us.  Qi Gong means “cultivating the body’s vital energy””; Its  a gentle mind-body exercise that helps improve health and overall well being.  The meditative state of mind through regular practice provides powerful mental and emotional benefits, fostering creativity, improved mood, relaxation and better sleepIMG_1664-300x225-1

Yale University Tour

IMG_1181Ecuador, Poland and the Netherlands along with Mexico, So Africa, Namibia Spain, England, Czech Republic and many more from around the globe enjoyed a fantastic tour of Yale University in New Haven.

NYC Scavenger Hunt

Au Pair in America:   Au Pairs from the tri-state area gathered together for an amazing scavenger hunt in NYC!    Everyone broke up into groups and ventured around the city.    Prizes were awarded to the lucky winners of this fun filled event!IMG_1166

Banana Ice Cream – one ingredient, healthy and easy!

Au Pairs and families – do your kids return home from school starving and craving junk food?!!    Serve them healthy banana ice cream!!  Its so easy.   Cut a banana into slices, put into freezer bag, place in freezer minimum 2 hours.    Take  out, put into food processor or blender, pulse until smooth.   Tastes great alone OR Experiment by adding healthy items such as blueberries or pineapples.    Happy and healthy kids = happy parents!    Enjoy!!exps38405_C1115462D47C

Au Pairs from Germany, France, Panama, Poland, The Netherlands, Sweden, Mexico, Spain, Namibia, So Korea and So Africa all came together for an evening of food, fun and making new friends.  We talked about the upcoming July 4th holiday, where to see fireworks and reviewed summer safety tips .
