Au pair, Magie, from Mexico, was happy to share information about Au Pair in America with interested parents. Au Pair Julia Volunteers at Baby and Child Expo
Swedish au pair Julia has been enjoying her match with local host family for more than five month now. To find out more about childcare in the area, and in the States in general, she volunteered to participate in the Baby and Child Expo at the Lakeside Shopping Mall. After talking to several interested families, she was delighted to note that both she and the families learned a lot from each other. She was also impressed by the great variety and high quality of services offered to families with young children.

Local APIA counselor and au pairs enjoyed sharing information about Au Pair in America program with interested families at Baby and Child Expo at Lakeview Shopping Mall.

Au pair – meaning in French: on the same level, as a family member – are young visitors from abroad, mostly young women, who come to the United States for one year on Visitor Exchange J-1 visa to learn about the American way of life while living with American host families and providing childcare.

Au Pairs Meet Local Parents at Baby and Child Expo
On Saturday, July 7, 2012 au pairs participated in Baby and Child Expo organized by La Leche League of Jefferson. Grouped around the Au Pair in America display in the center court of Lakeview Mall in Metairie, au pairs were happy to chat with visiting families. They talked about Au Pair in America program, different options of care, program rules, cost, and the wonderful experience of sharing the culture of their respective countries with host families.

Next Saturday, July 7, 2012, APIA au pairs will participate in the Baby and Child Expo sponsored by La Leche League of Jefferson.
Providing optimal childcare for their offspring is a continuing challenge for most busy families, including, or perhaps especially, for the families who have just welcomed a new baby into their fold.
