WaterFire Providence

Providence Waterfire
On Saturday Evening, July 13, au pairs from throughout New England are invited to join us at WaterFire, Providence’s spectacular, award-winning event which centers on a series of 100 bonfires that blaze just above the surface of the three rivers that pass through the middle of downtown Providence. The fires illuminate nearly two-thirds of a mile of urban spaces and parks. Visitors stroll along the river enjoying the sound of crackling flames, the fragrant scent of blazing cedar and pine, the flickering firelight, the performers traveling along the river in torch-lit vessels and the extraordinary music from all over the world. WaterFire is a must for Rhode Island visitors and residents alike! This will be a fun way for New England au pairs to get together and enjoy the spectacular event, and will also be an opportunity for interested families to stop by our “campsite” to gather information about Au Pair in America. Look for red, white and blue balloons on the lawn at Waterplace Park — adjacent to to Waterplace Restaurant.

Au Pairs Volunteer for Providence Preservation Society Spring Festival of Historic Homes

The 2011 Providence Preservation Society Festival of Historic Houses will take place on Saturday, June 4, 2011, and several au pairs will be volunteering for the event!  The Spring Festival of Historic Houses is an annual fundraising event sponsored by the Providence Preservation Society — this year’s tour will feature homes on and around Blackstone  Boulevard.  Rhode Island au pairs and their community counselor will be working together as house guides…they will be welcoming and providing information to tour guests, and will answer any questions that guests may have about the history and architecture of the house.  When their volunteer shift is over, au pairs will have the opportunity to take the tour themselves, and to visit  some of the most extraordinary homes on the East Side of Providence. October Cluster Meeting

Picture 033Au Pairs at Providence Ghost TourIn October (to help us to celebrate Halloween) we will be going on a Ghost Tour! It will be a walking ghost tour, led by lantern light, through the darkened streets of the historic East Side of Providence. The tour guides will share a lot of Providence history and some stories that are sure to send a chill down everyone’s spine! The guides are very knowledgeable about various murders and deaths spanning many years, as well as very interesting non-ghost history about the the East Side of Providence. It should be very interesting, spooky, and fun evening….
