Cynthia, a Community Counselor in southern Maryland, shared the following about a recent cluster event with a group of au pairs having fun to support a local charity.
A group of my au pairs recently participated in a community service project helping out at an event for Sending Smiles. We supported this local charity, created by kids, in their “10,000 card celebration.” Sending Smiles creates postcards that are distributed to hospitals and hospital housing residences like Children’s House at Johns Hopkins and Ronald McDonald Houses. Some cards are mailed directly to individual children, while others are sent to the locations to be distributed by staff.
We had a great time and completed forty-two cards! We also brought a huge stack of blank cards back with us to work on over the summer.
Thanks for sharing this great story of au pairs and the local community working together for a good cause, Cynthia! We appreciate the work you do to make sure our au pairs have fun, meet great people in their communities and get to know each other better.
