Karen Brown, a Maryland native, is new to the Jacksonville area and brings over 13 years of professional experience in Education and Child Care Leadership. In January 2019, Karen joins Au Pair in America as Community Counselor.  She will directly support and connect Host Families and Au Pairs within North Eastern Florida.

Karen earned her B.S. in Family Studies & Services to Children from Towson University, Towson, MD.  She spent 10 years working at an independent school and has held positions as Child Care Licensing & Program Director, Kindergarten Teacher, and Community Specialist.  In Maryland, she served as a County Child Care Board Member and she is dedicated to improving the lives of families and children.

Prior to her relocation to Florida, Karen’s love for adventure and exploration sparked the decision to travel the United States, spending quality time and making lasting memories with her family.

From The Chesapeake Bay to the St. Johns river, Karen’s love for “life at the beach” led her to settle with her Husband and 2 sons, in sunny, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.  She enjoys spending most of her time at the beach.

At Au Pair in America, Karen is eager to assist families who choose a flexible child care option, which is enriched through cultural exchange.  She is also committed to ensuring a positive opportunity for Au Pairs as they gain international experience.
