A Buggy Ride in the French Quarter
A narrated tour of the historic French Quarter took au pairs down the narrow streets and past the famous landmarks, including voodoo museum, Ursuline Convent, Preservation Hall jazz club, and… Brad and Angelina’s house.
Adult, Infant, and Child CPR and First Aid Class
On October 16, 2010 au pairs participated in the Adult, Infant, and Child CPR and First Aid class offered by the American Red Cross. A day-long class reinforced the material au pairs learned at APIA Orientation, and made them even more confident they were well prepared to handle any emergency situation.

Cruising the Mighty Mississippi
On August 15, 2010 au pairs boarded Steamboat Natchez for a two-hour narrated cruise up and down the mighty Mississippi River. We learned about the early history of New Orleans and its days of glory as the wealthy port and cotton trade center. Watching passing scenes from the deck was fun, especially when a gust of wind lessened the August heat.
A visit to Insta-gator Ranch and Hatchery in July 2010
Insta-gator Ranch and Hatchery in Covington was a lot of fun to visit. We learned about different types of crocodylians, in particular the native Louisiana alligators and their habitat and habits. After a lively presentation by the guide, we visited the gators in their holding pens and met face-to-snout (the later temporarily muzzled with a tape, just in case…) with one of the friendly youngsters.
