Au Pair in America is a program of the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS), one of the oldest and largest cultural exchange organizations in the world. Also a part of the AIFS family, is the Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG), a provider of programs for gifted and talented youth, ages 5 through 17, since 1984.
SIG provides a unique environment for gifted and talented students to connect with peers in a community of like-minded learners from all over the world who share common interests, abilities and goals.
In 2015, SIG will offer 3-week day programs for students ages 5 – 12 in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, California and Washington. With math, science, humanities and interdisciplinary courses, students choose three academic classes and design their own schedule based on their interests. In the afternoon, they select a fourth course in either sports and recreation or visual and performing arts.
To work with hectic summer schedules, SIG offers extended drop off and pick up (beginning at 7:45am and ending at 6:00pm) as well as half day options so students can attend either morning or afternoon only sessions.
Au Pair in America host families receive a 5% AIFS family discount off of their program fee.
SIG is proud of the benefits offered to students:
- Innovative Academics – Students can choose from topical, multi-disciplinary courses. Offerings are continually updated, with 14 new classes in 2015.
- Community – SIG brings together exceptional students from 46 states and 46 different countries.
- Outstanding Campus Facilities – Students experience the energy and excitement of campus life.
- Top Quality Instructors – Instructors are selected for their expertise in working with gifted children as well as their content specialties.
SIG also offers residential sessions for students ages 9 to 17, and online learning programs for students ages 7 to 12.
