What happens when you bring nine nations and host families together? You get the most vibrant Host Family Day we’ve seen yet!
This year’s celebration was a true whirlwind of culture, proving that while we might live in different corners of the globe, we all share a love for good food and fun.
The Global Lineup
We were honored to have nine countries represented this year, each bringing their own unique “flavor” to the festivities:
- North & South America: USA, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia
- Europe: Germany, Spain
- Asia: China, The Philippines
- Africa: Uganda
Passports, Please! ✈️
The highlight for our youngest travelers was the “Little Passport” initiative. Kids zipped from table to table, collecting stamps and stickers as they learned “hello” in different languages and discovered new favorite snacks. It was a genius way to get everyone engaged with the rich traditions each family brought to the table.
Highlights from the Tables
Every country brought its A-game, but a few moments really stood out:
- Goal! The Brazilian table was a massive hit, featuring a mini soccer net where kids tested their striker skills.
- The Fashion: From the Filipiniana of The Philippines to the traditional dirndls and lederhosen at the German table, the traditional dress on display was breathtaking.
- The Fun Facts: Did you know Germany is closed on Sundays, or in Nebraska they eat cinnamon rolls with their chili?
And the Winner Is… 🏆
While every table was a masterpiece of culture and hospitality, there can only be one “Favorite Table” winner.
After a very close community vote, the trophy went to Mexico! Between the vibrant decorations and the yummy food, they captured the hearts (and taste buds) of the neighborhood. Congratulations, Rebeca!
