Approximately 300 Au Pairs from all around the DC area and their 20 Community Counselors gathered at the National Zoo early Sunday to participate in the first-ever DC Regional Scavenger Hunt at the National Zoo!
It was an incredible day! Sun was shining, temperatures were great, the zoo was decorated for Halloween…

Saturday, September 21 is International Day of Peace! Au Pair in America, in celebration of “Peace Day” will sponsor its Third Annual Peace Day Contest. Au Pairs are invited to submit their vision of “peace,” whether it’s a painting, photograph, poem, essay, song or dance-any art form is acceptable.
Entries are due by Thursday, September 19. They should be sent to: gaapia@gmail.com
Prizes will be awarded in all categories and winners will be announce on “Peace Day” on the Global Awareness website. All entries will be posted on this site for friends and family to enjoy!

On September 8th hundreds of our host families and au pairs came to enjoy a day of fun at Lake Fairfax Park. We all got to enjoy the weather and each others’ company. It was great to meet so many host moms, host dads, host children, au pairs, and hear their stories. The face painters and balloon sculptor were a hit with the kids!
Thank you to everyone for making this event a success.
We all had a great time for our cluster meeting Sunday at Great Falls Park. The weather was beautiful and we were all able to relax and enjoy good food and great company.
Au pairs brought their host children for some fun with Mr. Knick Knack in Reston Town Center.
The kids enjoyed some music and we all got to get together and meet some of the new au pairs who arrived recently.

Canoe trip on the Shenandoah River
A day of fun on the water! This year’s canoe trip was amazing. We avoided the rain and came back just in time to stay dry. As always, the view was amazing! Great time to relax on the water (and get a good workout at the same time).
Au Pairs from DC/MD and VA came together on October 14th to participate in the annual scavenger hunt. This year's theme was the Presidential Election 2012.
