Yesterday, we discussed principles behind volunteering to help get you thinking about volunteer activities for au pairs and host families. Today, and over the next few days, we will provide you with ideas and suggestions for volunteer activities for au pairs, parents and children. If you are interested in fun volunteering activities but haven’t found your cause, today’s suggestion to get you started is:
Go to the park! Volunteering is one of many ways to get involved and appreciate our national parks. In a few months, August 25, 2016, our National Park Service turns 100! You can look into the many activities the National Park Service has planned throughout their centennial year. Exploring national parks near you is a great way to get out and have fun with the kids.
When you decide to give back and help others, you’ll find no shortage of organizations and events that can use assistance, like our national parks. You can also inquire at your local municipal office about any volunteer opportunities at parks in your hometown and age range for participation.
What may be more of a challenge is finding the right opportunities and approach to engage children in charitable activities. This brings us to part three of our five-part blog series about volunteer activities for au pairs, parents and children. Check back tomorrow to find suggestions to get kids engaged and excited about helping out in the community.
