Au pairs and staff from Au Pair in America are proud to have supported the runners at this year’s TCS New York City Marathon!
Each year, au pairs from the U.S. Department of State’s Exchange Visitor Program volunteer their time (and never-ending energy!) to cheer on the amazing people running the marathon, providing water and Gatorade along the route.
Our team of Au Pair in America au pair and staff volunteers always come away inspired, having played an important role in this iconic New York City tradition! Our staff love being able to help facilitate the experience for our au pairs and take part in the magic themselves.
What made this year extra special was that we had community members running in the New York City Marathon, too. Au Pair in America Community Counselor Marli Meier, who supports host families and au pairs in the Greenwich, CT and Westchester, NY areas, had such an impactful experience, sharing:
“I am so grateful to Au Pair in America for the opportunity to run the NYC Marathon in 2023! To help demonstrate my gratitude, I managed to raise more than $1,000 for Girls on the Run.
Girls on the Run is an amazing organization empowering girls through participation in physical activity, unlocking their power and potential to lead an emotionally and physically healthy life!
As a proud mom of three active and athletic boys, I deeply value the power of physical activity, and I wish for no girl to be left behind. I’d like to thank everyone for their generous support in this cause, and hope to continue to inspire many others to participate in physical activity and perhaps run the NYC Marathon with me in 2024!”
We’re so thrilled to take part in this incredible annual tradition in New York City, and look forward to taking part in next year’s Marathon!
