When you’re interviewing au pairs, sometimes you just know you’ve found “the one.” This host family in New Jersey knew immediately that Rayane from Brazil would be the perfect au pair for their family’s needs — and they were right!
Beyond her role in assisting with childcare, Rayane brought joy, creativity, and love to her host family’s home and greater community, making significant contributions to their daily lives.
Read on to hear from Rayane’s host family about how much they have loved having her as their au pair, and how she’s become a true part of their family.
“When we saw the Elmo puppet introduction to our kids, we knew this was the right fit — and Rayane became our rainbow au pair.
She helped us to believe and trust in the au pair program and what it should bring to every host family: a friend, confidant and teammate.
Of course she helps to take care of our kids, but she loves our kids.
She dives in head first, ready to give her all at all times.
She is honest and her honesty has made us better host parents, as well as better parents to our kids.
She has been so reliable and flexible.
When my husband took on an unexpected military role, she stepped up and helped to fill the void.
She has shared her talents with our children and now they are swimmers.
Potty training our daughter would have been a nightmare without her creativity, and her gift for organization is now the standard of our routine. But it has been so much more than that.
It has been her ability to take us out of our comfort zone — I can’t believe we ran a mud run together.
And all the delicious Brazilian foods. Now Pão de Queijo is a staple in our home.
The music she loves has become the songs we sing on a hard day.
This extends to her friendships. She’s the leader of the Brazilian six, as we call them. She’s eager to host a movie night, cook a meal or plan an international travel. She is known to invite friends to her church, plan a surprise party for a friend who is feeling forgotten.
She gives, she supports, she uplifts. She’s the glue that keeps everyone together.
But the thing we are most proud of is her growth — her ability to trust, explore, take chances, plan and make friends.
She is bold, confident, outgoing and beautiful.
We know Rayane will be a part of the rest of our lives, but as her chapter ends with us, we’re excited to see the new adventures that await her.”
