Snowtubing January Cluster meeting

January 13, 2014 – 9:23 am

Last weekend we went Snow tubing with our cluster and had a lot of fun together.

Clemence and Allison from France received with many others their education certificate after completing the credits for the aupair program.

Julia received all 12 credits for the Educare aupair program already

Spectacle Island trip with aupairs

P1030646 - Copy Yesterday we had a spectacular trip to Spectacle Island with aupairs from the greater Boston area. We all enjoyed the view from the ferry over the Boston skyline while heading to the island in the morning.

On the island we enjoyed the beach, had picnic for lunch and participated in a guided tour over the island.

P1030658 - Copy We listened to the ranger who gave the tour how the island was shaped and became a park later with all the soil of the big dig from the major road construction in Boston that was going on for over 10 years.

From the top of the island we had an even better view to all islands around, the Boston Logan airport and the skyline of the city of Boston.

After spending the day together while chatting about classes , exchanging information, celebrating Rebekka’s birthday with brownies 😉

we were ready to go back to the main land.

Meeting at the Vapiano restaurant in Boston downtown

May 23, 2013 – 12:55 pm

Yesterday we met with many of our cluster at a local downtown restaurant Vapiano for an Italian night together. We had many whose aupair year will come to an end soon in the summer and everybody who has finished all the credits for the education requirement got a certificate to take home. Our Educare aupairs needed to get 12 credits at a college or university and the standart and extraordinaire program requires 6 credits during the first year as an aupair in the US.

Monike from Brazil also received her certificate for fullfilling the requirements of the aupair education program

Judith G from Germany received today her price for winning the third place in the snowman contest.

Valentine’s Day cluster meeting

February 10, 2013 – 10:03 pm

At our Valentine’s Day cluster meeting we welcomed a new aupair: Mari from Panama who just arrived 2 weeks ago in Sharon.

We also had three aupairs to whom she we had to say good bye: Dany from Ecuador who is going to move with her hostfamily to MD, Megan from South Africa who will go back home as well as Hellen from Germany after two years of being an aupair with Au Pair in America.

They shared they experience as aupairs with us assured us that they will miss their lives in the US very much.

These four aupairs got a certificate for their completion of their education part during their aupair year. Every aupair needs to get 6 credits as a standart aupair or extraordinaire aupair of 12 credits as educare aupair while they stay in the aupair program. This government regulation gives aupairs the opportunity to experience college live in the US.

October Cluster meeting: Zumba class

October 22, 2012 – 4:35 pm

For our October cluster meeting we enjoyed a free Zumba class at the Healthwork gym in Chestnut Hill. Liza Elmstrom a former aupair from Sweden some years ago who is now a fitness trainer at the Healthwork gym introduced our cluster group to a fun class with great music.

A wonderful way to get connected and have fun together. We welcomed our new aupair Corina from Croatia who just arrived to our Boston cluster in October.

Meet Your Global Neighbor

In honor of the International Day of Peace which is celebrated on Sept 21, Au Pair in America au pairs submitted their visions of peace. Heike Krizun, a community counselor in MA encouraged her au pairs to work together to create one entry. Here is a quilt of many colors from many nations. This is cultural exchange in action; the au pairs are learning about each other and from each other-the first step towards peace in another generation. Kayaking for our August cluster meeting

August 19, 2012 – 3:18 pm

We met with our aupairs in our cluster today for a kayaking event as our August cluster meeting at the Charles River.

Many new aupairs who just arrived last week had a chance to get connections to others and saw the Boston skyline for their first time. We had wonderful weather and it was dry and not too hot to paddle along the river through the salt and pepper bridge that connects Boston with Cambridge.

For some aupairs it was also their last cluster meeting because they will go home after being an aupair for one successful year like Maria from Germany does in the Educare program. Or like Hannah from South Africa who will extend her stay as an aupair in the standart aupair program for another year in a different area of the US.

It was a wonderful meeting to share memories, exchange experiences to give out hints and tips for new aupairs and to enjoy the outdoors together. To see all pix please go to Kayaking August cluster meeting 2012.

Summer is the time when many aupairs leave and many arrive in the US. A fantastic opportunity for them to exchange their experience as aupairs and living in our wonderful city Boston.

At our July Cluster meeting last Sunday we had a wonderful time to help the new arrivals to get to know each other.

As always we have had an agenda for our meeting which was this time: Healthy snacks for kids.

Not so healthy but delicious was the contribution of Katrine from Denmark to our meeting :
