City of Bowie International Festival is Tomorrow, 10/6
For the past several years our cluster has participated in the City of Bowie International Festival. It is a wonderful event that brings thousands of people from all over the area who want to sample a variety of cultures from around the globe. We provide free children’s activities. Some years our we have had over 700 children visit our booth!!!
It looks like we will have a nice fall day tomorrow and let’s hope the rain stays away.
Depending on when you stop by, you might join us to do one of the following:
- writing your name in Thai
- learning the colors in various languages
- map games
- flag games
- temporary tattoos
- getting your hand painted with the flag of Mexico, Italy, Peru, Colombia or Germany
The City of Bowie International Festival will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012, 11 am-5pm at Allen Pond Park, Northview Drive, Bowie, MD 20716.
This event is FREE, Family-Friendly and open to the public. Hope to see you there!

Fantastic Day at International Festival
We participated in the City of Bowie International Festival at Allen Pond Park on Saturday, October 2, 2010. We had beautiful weather, fabulously talented au pairs and lots of eager children ready to try our activities. Some of our activities were: painting flags on the children’s hands, creating beaded bracelets, doing geography games and showing people how to write their names in Thai.
Below are some photos. Unfortunately, I didn’t get pictures of everyone who helped at the event. We had a very busy time with lots of kids coming through and I wasn’t able to get photos of some of the volunteers in the middle of the day.
International Festival Was Wonderful!
We had a wonderful time at the 2009 City of Bowie International Festival. We were in our usual location right on the water and despite the forecast calling for rain, it turned out to be a perfect day for an outdoor festival. This is our 4th year signing on to provide free children’s activities. The initial estimates were that we had 800-900 children participating this year!
I think the festival gets better and better every year. We were fortunate to be near enough to the stage to see and hear some of the performances. They were amazing.
This year we had au pairs participating representing, Costa Rica, China, Germany, South Africa and Thailand.
