In honor of Valentine’s Day this year, we are dedicating this whole week to love! Time is precious, and this holiday is a super opportunity to remind us all to cherish the time we spend together. Set aside a moment or two to make special memories that you’ll treasure down the road. For au pairs, children and families, the week leading up to Valentine’s Day can be filled with activities to make this a holiday to remember.
#ShareYourPassion
Activities we hold a passion for bring out the best of us. Sharing these with others helps to build strong bonds. If you have a passion for a sport or hobby, share this with the people you care about. Perhaps someone in your family has a great skill or interest that they’d like to share and you’d like to learn more about. This is a year round opportunity, but taking time to share and explore hobbies, sports, interests and talents together is a great way to spend time in honor of Valentine’s Day. What a fantastic way to get to know the people you love even better!
#ValentineCrafts
For a great activity to spend time together, think about making homemade Valentines. These can be for children to bring to school for classmates or for children to create for parents and au pairs. You’ll find many arts and crafts projects online to help you come up with ideas for homemade valentines for any age range. And what child wouldn’t appreciate a special Valentine made by loving parents and an adoring au pair? A little creativity can lead to hours of fun and memories everyone will treasure looking back through the years.
#PhotoMemories
Valentine photo shoots can also be an exciting activity for everyone. You can work together to create a backdrop with a Valentine theme just for the occasion. Photos create great mementos on their own and can also be used as part of a homemade Valentine gift. Parents may decide to create a photo collage of the family and au pair together as a special gift on Valentine’s day. Au pairs and kids may create special photos for the parents. You can have a lot of fun coming up with an idea and putting it all together. With the focus on family, homemade Valentine projects are a great way to get everyone together making memories – now that’s quality time!
#ValentinePets
For many, pets are a big part of the family unit. Families with animals can spend enjoyable time together taking Valentine pictures with their favorite pets. Brainstorm fun ways to pose with your pets, whether they are fish, cats, lizards, Guinea pigs, dogs, birds or what have you, and create special snapshots for the occasion. Another fun way to include beloved pets in the spirit of Valentine’s Day is to make a gift or valentine for them. Picking out a new toy or treat at the pet shop can be a fun outing, and making pet friendly snacks is a nice way to spend time with children to help them express their affection for the critters that enrich our lives with unconditional love.
#ShareTheLove
In the week ahead, Au Pair in America will be highlighting our Valentine’s Day theme across our social media. We’d love for you to jump right in and celebrate with us. Share your ideas or photos to create a fun filled family Valentine’s Day, and together, we’ll make this a wonderful week to remember. We look forward to hearing from you!
