Au Pair in America is thrilled to acknowledge the winners of the 2019 Au Pair of the Year Award! The award, given annually by Au Pair in America, provides the opportunity for host families to show their appreciation for their au pair’s achievements and the ways in which she has touched their family.
The 2019 Au Pair of the Year Award recognizes first, second and third place winners, chosen by a committee appointed by Au Pair in America. All nominees are nominated by their host family, who are asked to write an essay that describes the characteristics that make their au pair exceptional, noting the positive impact she has had on their family and explaining how she has integrated into their local community and learned about America. All nominees receive a certificate, with the top three winners also receiving round-trip airline tickets.
This year, Au Pair in America received a record number of host family nominations – resulting in two-way ties for both second and third place! We are honored to recognize five inspiring young women and their stories this year.
Two Brazilian au pairs, Francinny Nery Sarzedas Amarante and Ana Carolina Teixeira Lopes Rosa, tied for third place. Francinny lives with her host family in southern Virginia, while Ana lives in Massachusetts with her host family.
In second place, Polish au pair Sara Cieszko and German au pair Franziska “Franzi” Leim tied for the award. Sara lives with her host family in Pennsylvania, while Franzi’s host family is located in Washington.
The first place winner is Nadine Nauschutz, a South African au pair in Centerport, New York. Nadine’s commitment to the cultural exchange aspect of the au pair experience impressed both her host family and the award committee.
Au Pair in America would like to thank all the host families for their submissions and heart-warming stories, as well as all of the exceptional au pairs!
