Field Trips can be a great way for kids to learn and have new experiences. Here are a few places that fit this theme:
- Kid Museum is a hands-on learning space for kids in Bethesda
- Maryland Science Center in Baltimore
- Smithsonian Museum of Natural History
- Smithsonian Air & Space Museum
- Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy Center
Videos – On YouTube, you can find many great videos with science experiments designed for kids.
Webcams – You can do a google search for science websites with webcams. Here is a collection of 22 science webcams from around the world.
Movies – The Lego Movie, Big Hero 6, Wall-E, and Hidden Figures all fit the STEM theme. (Always check with your host parents first, as some of these movies are rated PG or PG-13.)
Books – Common Sense Media’s list of 13 Cool STEM Books for Kids Who Love Science (and More) has lots of great suggestions, including Ada Twist, Scientist, The Animal Book, and The Curious World of Calpurnia Tate.
Stop by your local library and look for these and other books on science, technology, engineering, and math.
